Kingfisher blue fabric for wall hanging or table

Finished on all four sides so ready for use as a wall hanging or table cover, this luxurious textile was purchased in Denmark and measures 113 cm in width and a whopping 276 cm in length. The photo only shows 90% of the length as we couldn't fit it all in – there's another full row of pattern below the bottom of the picture. The fabric is thought to be a combination of wool, silk, linen and viscose, and the art nouveau revival style design is woven into the fabric, not printed. Furthermore, the weave is immensely complex, using many different widths of thread (some slubbed, some not) and many different weave patterns to build texture as well as shape into the design. The colours are a brilliant array of varying shades and tones of kingfisher blue, some of which (particularly those using slubbed thread) are especially lustrous, mimicking the metallic sheen of the kingfisher from which the colour derives its name.
