1960s art nouveau revival textile from Sweden
Purchased in Sweden, this vintage but never used fabric is a bold 1960s interpretation of the late 19th and early 20th century design influences that led to the original art nouveau movement and its 1960s revival of which this fabric is a part. Japanese woodblock prints, the Aesthetic Movement, Liberty style and the Glasgow School of Macintosh and the MacDonald sisters can all be seen in the simple but strong lines of this flowing design. The fabric is a finely woven but very robust cotton of furnishing weight, printed in coffee and beige with a subtle peachy-pink tinge. Measuring 129 x 154cm (50.75 x 60.5 inches) and hemmed at both ends, the textile is in mint condition and would make a striking piece of wall art.
